Salary: £42,000 – £54,000 per year
Elevation Accountancy & Finance are once again supporting one of the region’s leading employers. The role of External Financial Reporting Manager is to work for a successful national business that has an instantly recognisable brand. You will be based at their head office in Worksop, and with hybrid working you will only need to go into the office for 2 days each week.
This role will play a key part in the Financial Control team, delivering quality financial information with a focus on external reporting. You will be responsible for preparing, reviewing and presenting accurate financial information on accounting judgements to senior stakeholders to support decision making. You will also be responsible for the preparation and review of various financial statements to meet the company’s statutory obligations.
The role requires strong relationships with key stakeholders, working across departments and is crucial to managing contact with our external auditors to ensure financial information is prepared in a timely and accurate way.
Responsibilities will include:
– Preparation and review of various statutory financial statements including supervision of workings and financial statement disclosure preparation, ensuring prepared in compliance with the relevant GAAP to the required deadline
– Reviewer (and owner where more complex) of accounting models and position papers for judgemental areas. Responsible for ensuring approach is compliant with UK GAAP and risks and opportunities are understood and communicated to senior stakeholders; ensuring application of technical knowledge drives challenge and robustness of methodologies
– Key part of the audit process, including supervision and review of the statutory accounts working files, consolidation file, consolidation journals and supporting workings. Fundamental to managing contact with our external auditors, dealing with requests and queries in an efficient way, leading to a clean audit report and timely sign off
– You will support the Financial Controller to ensure appropriate processes and activities to deliver a smooth year end are in place throughout the year and contribute to ensuring any corrective actions are achieved
– Lead the creation of an accounting manual for policies, procedures and a controls framework ensuring content is developed and maintained
– Lead review and challenge of balance sheet reconciliations through independent rolling review to ensure evidence is robust and risks and opportunities are well understood and clearly communicated within specific deadlines
– Responsible for the technical review and challenge of capital spend approval requests
– Input to accounting for technical financial transactions including bonus and IFRS 16 leases accounting
– Leading, motivating and developing direct reports
Key skills / qualifications
– ACA or ACCA qualified with 3+ years post qualification experience
– Strong technical accounting experience
– Stakeholder engagement skills
– Strong communication skills
