Salary: £48,000 – £72,000 per year

This challenging and exciting opportunity, based in either Yorkshire or the North East, requires an individual possessing a strong technical background and demonstrable experience in operating as an Estimator or Bid Manager from within any area of the power sector, and this can be from having worked for a client side DNO – IDNO, consultancy or a contractor.

Due to an increase in contract awards, a significant forward order workload, and a dedication to continued profitable long-term growth, our client is now seeking to appoint an experienced Estimator for their power division, covering sub-stations, connections, cabling, switchgear replacement and maintenance, and all associated infrastructure. You will hold responsibility to produce competitive estimates, tenders, bids and quotations, which will include co-ordinating with the client to produce a value engineered solution, ensure that estimates meet statutory legislations, regulations and client specifications, and produce and submit accurate quotations with associated evaluation data for bids and tenders.
The Role
* The primary responsibility is to develop competitive, winning and timely electrical and power project estimates and submit competitive bids and proposals to various clients
* Analyse and interpret detailed clients’ requests, drawings and specifications
* Determine and price value-engineered alternatives to project plans and specifications
* Utilising standard quotations to submit bespoke tenders and proposals to clients
* Attend pre and post tender bid meetings with clients and their representatives
* Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed and calm manner
* Assist the team to meet the financial targets by playing a lead role
* Identify new suppliers or sub-contractors to improve safety, performance and profit
The Person
* The ideal candidate will be a confident and self-motivated individual with the ability to be innovative whilst still being able to follow and improve set processes
* You must be hard working, be able to work alone and when required as part of a team
* Able to identify the requirements of projects
* Accurately prepare estimates and quotations considering all costs associated with delivery
* Provide detailed handover project files to allow for successful delivery of projects
* Correspond and negotiate with clients, suppliers, contractors and colleagues
* Able to manage situations when workload presents conflicting demands on time availability, demonstrating an ability to effectively multi-task, prioritise and schedule
* Monitor progress and implement controls to ensure tasks are achieved to time, cost and quality targets
* Develop and select effective solutions to problems and manage risks
* Communicate facts, ideas and proposals to others in an effective and persuasive manner
* Work with others to develop knowledge and skills throughout the team
