Salary: £32.06 per hour
We require Environmental Consultants with some practical experience to join a small, dynamic environmental and sustainability practice based out of their Head Office, primarily in the rail, infrastructure and construction sectors.
There is an immediate need for assignments west of London, working on major rail infrastructure programmes.
The Environmental Advisor assists the Environmental Manager in the delivery and supervision of site works on major infrastructure projects. Responsible for ensuring best practise in environmental management across all active construction sites. You will be the on-site ‘eyes and ears’ of the Environment Manager and the Head of Environment & Sustainability.
Responsibilities
The Environmental Advisors will be responsible for:
* the day to day environmental supervision of works on various sites;
* the delivery of all measures detailed in the Contract Wide-Environmental Management Plan (CW-EMP) and Site-Specific EMPs;
* preventing and reporting on environmental incidents;
* monitoring and quality control of the embedded environmental and ecological mitigation measures during the construction phases;
* leading and assisting in the delivery of the management of environmental issues such as the presence of protected species, works in designated sites (SSSIs, Ancient Woodlands, AONBs etc.).;
* liaising with the Client project management site teams;
* reviewing relevant documents, including risk assessments, method statements and evidence relating to all proposed work activities;
* biosecurity supervision;
* INNS (Invasive Non Native Species) terrestrial and aquatic supervision;
* conducting Tool-box talks or other environmental briefings to contractors;
* determining what level of environmental supervision is required during for work activities and how this will be communicated to subcontractors;
* fulfilling Health & Safety responsibilities by adhering to ALIGN’s policy’s and management plans; and
* undertaking other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
Skills & Experience
* Degree or Masters qualification in Environmental Management. Experience demonstrating applied knowledge of environmental procedures and legal compliance.
* The candidate will need to demonstrate experience/ working knowledge in the following areas:
* Air quality/dust suppression;
* Arboriculture;
* Contaminated land;
* Ecology (aquatic and terrestrial);
* Biosecurity experience;
* INNS experience;
* Landscape;
* Noise and vibration monitoring and mitigation;
* Computer skills across the whole Microsoft Office suite;
* Membership of IEMA, CIEEM, IES or equivalent environmental organisation; and
* CSCS Card holder.
These roles are most suitable for those with a broad environmental background, site management and coordination, and preferably with hands on experience of working on large infrastructure projects.
Preferable
Qualified Environmental specialist or a related discipline is desirable; membership of a relevant professional body is advantageous
A valid CSCS card to visit sites is desirable

The roles are immediate and the preference is to recruit permanent members into the team now and in the coming months for a variety of other projects. Fixed term contracts will be considered, as well as rolling contract positions.
