Salary: £21.6 – £25.45 per hour
This organisation are looking for a Principal Enterprise and Business Development Officer on a temporary basis for 3 months initially.
Main Duties:
* To determine the implications of research information and to forecast change for the Bath and North East Somerset Area and business sectors within it.
* To provide advice based on research and evidence on economic performance and to work with colleagues in developing the Council’s economic, development and regeneration policies and delivery plans.
* To develop and monitor, in conjunction with other members of the team, other Council services and partner organisations, economic indicators within the B&NES Economic Strategy and the West of England Strategic Economic Plan and City Deal.
* To assist in solving economic development and regeneration problems through using a range of economic analysis tools.
* To work with colleagues and partner organisations in providing business support and advice services.
* To programme and undertake initiatives to improve the business climate, productivity and growth in Bath and North East Somerset.
* To assist in identifying, understanding and addressing the prospects and requirements of both indigenous businesses and potential inward investors including, identifying target businesses and sectors for development of the B&NES economy, and offering advice to facilitate investment in the area.
* To provide advice on sectors and companies within the area that may be at risk and to propose their actions in response.
* To recommend new and additional research to underpin wider policy development, in particular on high growth markets
* To influence B&NES corporate strategies and external bodies, such as the Local Enterprise Partnership and other agencies and organisations in the private sector, in order to promote sustainable economic development and community regeneration.
* To undertake regular dialogue with businesses and the business community in Bath and North East Somerset to provide advice and receive feedback about the Council’s approach and activities.
* To represent them at local, regional and national meetings in relation to sustainability, economic competitiveness, enterprise and growth.
* To implement projects, including where necessary the preparation of study briefs and the selection and management of consultants.
* To ensure the equality of opportunity in all activities.
* To ensure effective internal working relationships are established and maintained with regional, sub regional and local organisations, agencies and partnerships relevant to the promotion of sustainable economic development and regeneration.
You should match the following criteria:
* A graduate in Economics, Business Economics or another relevant discipline.
* A track record in economic development and/or regeneration, including experience in at least three of the following areas:
– Economic research and intelligence
– Economic impact assessment
– Business development and support
– Labour market and skills policy and initiatives
– Local and/or regional economic development policy
– Marketing, promotion and Inward investment
– Public / private sector partnership working
– National and/or European Community economic policy, legislation and good practice
– Development, delivery and monitoring of economic development and/or regeneration programmes
– Social economic policy and practice
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Openness, dependability, self reliance and adaptability.
* Ability to use initiative and make considered decisions.
* Thorough understanding of key commercial, business and other management issues and the ability to apply them to achieve positive results.
* Ability to demonstrate openness, dependability, self-reliance and adaptability.
* Ability to communicate well at public meetings, committees and partnership boards and other fora.
