Job Description

Job Title: Engineering Systems & R&D Manager
Reporting To: Engineering Director

A. Function
To control the engineering, design, estimating, planning, technical evaluation and product development functions of the company.

B. Principle Responsibilities
1, Management of project engineering and design teams
2, Allocation of enquiries, projects and design briefs
3, Tender and project reviews
4, Liaison with production department
5, Adherence to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and other National Standards

C. Key Tasks
1, Approval of all designs and drawings
2, Ensure on-time completion of package plant room estimates and designs.
3, Maintaining progress against project programmes
4, Maintaining change control system for design
5, Client liaison including requests for information, progress feedback and design freeze
6, Maintain and monitor company’s responsibilities under CDM regulations
7, Supervise technical/administration staff and subcontractors
8, Identify and evaluate training needs of team members
9, Carry out inductions, probation reports and staff appraisals
10, Implement and maintain departmental multi-skilling system
11, Agree and achieve annual departmental business plan objectives
12, Assist other group members with product development

Person Spec

• The Ideal Candidate have a minimum HNC but preferably a degree in an allied Engineering Discipline
• Should be able to control and guide a multi-disciplinary team in a fast moving environment and must be able to remain calm and focused under pressure
• Must have good IT skills and experience of Solidworks is also essential and 3D modelling experience preferable.
