Engineering Supervisor

Salary: £264 per day

We have an exciting new opportunity for a skilled Engineering Supervisor to join our team at our Northampton site.
Scope
Understanding the detail of how the plant operates the Engineering Supervisor is accountable for the total maintenance budget and management of spare parts and consumables inventory spend.
They will also manage the deployment of engineering activities across the plant involving routine, preventative, corrective and improvement maintenance.
Supporting the General Manager with specific focus on the alignment of activities with strategic priorities sustaining year on year performance improvements against key metrics.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage all plant and equipment which includes; electrical systems, boilers, cooling system, pneumatics, hydraulics and recycling sytems.
* Responsible for all engineering aspects including plant / machinery maintenance & plant maintenance
* Ensure EFP compliance to all statutory and regulatory requirements
* Manage the preparation and inspection of boilers, pressure vessels etc
* Manage and develop small team of skilled engineers
* Follow, maintain and improve safety procedures within the engineering department and plant
* Maintain clean, safe work environment
* Communicate with the General Manager regarding company policies, system breakdowns, safety and environmental issues.
* Troubleshoot and correct machinery problems
* Manage and maintain preventative maintenance systems
* Analyse operations to ensure that the plant is running as efficiently as possible. Producing reports on equipment performance
* Control major engineering and maintenance project work, including the movement and installation of items of plant/machinery and contractors
* Pro-actively monitoring energy efficiency and responding to any anomolies
* Assist in maintaining ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 accreditation
Knowledge and Expertise
* Proven experience in a similar role (5/10 years)
* Strong supervisory experience
* Ability to develop, lead and motivate a team
* Excellent time management and organisation skills
* Highly computer literate e.g. Excel/Word and PowerPoint
* Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
* Demonstrates experiences of making sound judgement under pressure.
* Systematic and with high attention to detail
* Already have developed a career and will probably have held practical roles within a maintenance environment.
* Strong mechanical or process engineering background that reinforces your extensive know-how of high-end, high-volume injection moulding and assembly.
* Ability to lead and promote Lean manufacturing initiatives
* Working knowledge of machinery safety regulations and legislation
* Ability to make decisions that maximise plant output + efficiency whilst balance those decisions with safety, product quality and cost.
* Experience of complex 24 hour manufacturing environment essential
* Knowledge of EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) moulding would be beneficial
Qualifications
Skilled engineering apprenticeship.
Degree in related engineering discipline desirable – or equivalent experience
