Engineering Manager

Salary: £60,000 – £72,000 per year

Our client specialise in the manufacture of high quality products in a comprehensive range of sizes in engineering steels.

They are looking for an Engineering manager to join their growing team.

Duties will include;

* To coordinate and control all the day to day activities of the Engineering function on site to facilitate a highly efficient operation

* To provide a positive contribution as a member of the site management team in support of the company objectives

* To promote industry best practice and delegate assignments to the management team

* To maximise warehouse output by minimising break down using planned maintenance techniques and routine engineering and electrical checks and maintain records of such activities.

* To implement correct engineering procedures and promote a safe working environment

* To maintain, improve and develop plant and equipment to improve safety and utilisation

* To agree and control levels of engineering spend

* To ensure all statutory records relating to the site are always compliant and up to date

* To work in conjuction with the operations manager and group health and safety manager on all health and safety matters as required

* To manage and minimise all controllable costs in relation to consumable and engineering spares

* To identify capital expenditure projects to investigate the replacement of obsolete or worn equipment

* To constantly review the department working patterns to reflect operational needs

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

* Established mechanical and electrical experience in a maintenance environment

* Appropriate technical qualifications

* Appropriate health and safety qualifications

* Environmental awareness

* The job holder should have a strong knowledge of cranes and racking equipment associated with the heavier end of warehousing activities

* Self motivated and self directed, though able to work efficiently as a member of a team.

* The ability to switch between hands on and office activities
