Employment Advisor (Learning Disabilities/Mental Health Specialism) – FTC 12 Months
Our client, Remploy, are seeking an Employment Advisor (Specialist Learning Disability/Mental Health) to upskill Remploy staff across a number of area teams/locations to enable the organisation to deliver high quality and high performing services to candidates with moderate to severe Learning Disabilities/Mental Health Issues, utilising recognised support employment methodology
The role will also entail directly managing a small caseload of Learning Disabled/Mental Health candidates with significant support needs to continually demonstrate skill and capability, and inspire belief and aspiration amongst colleagues on what can be achieved for such candidate groups
Duties Include:
Advise, guide, train and coach front-line employees in best practice techniques for supporting candidates with learning difficulties/mental health issues into employment, and to Remploy’s defined standards, through a learning-by doing approach
Assess staff competence in directly supporting people with Learning Disabilities/Mental Health issues to recognised standards for the purposes of accreditation.
Directly coach Remploy staff in job coaching, using Training Through Systematic Instruction (TSI) methodology, to significantly increase job coaching capability
Provide advice, guidance and practical support to Remploy ES delivery teams in local partnership working and identification of alternative local services that will complement and/or support Remploy service delivery in supporting candidates with Learning Disabilities/Mental Health Issues into sustained employment
Directly support, on an end-to-end delivery model, a small caseload of candidates with significant support needs as a result of them having a severe learning disability/ mental health issue to refresh and continually demonstrate practitioner skills.
Research, explore, test and recommend new products and services designed to improve Remploy’s services for supporting people with Learning Disabilities/Mental Health issues into employment.
The ideal candidate will possess:
3 to 5 years of practical experience of working directly with people with moderate to severe learning disabilities and/or mental health issues, preferably in the field of employment related services, and with a proven track record of personally delivering recognised outcomes.
An obvious and infectious passion for supporting candidates with learning disabilities and/or mental health issues, driven by an inherent belief that such candidates can and do achieve in life
Personal qualities that inspire belief in others by acting as a credible, professional role model
Knowledge, understanding and experience of a range of tools, products, services and partner organisations which can complement and add value to Remploy’s own service delivery in supporting people with Learning Disabilities and/or Mental Health Issues into sustainable employment.
Beyond job coaching, experience of coaching and/or training others in new skills and experiences
Qualified and experienced in the use of Training through Systematic Instruction (TSI)
Qualified to be able to assess learners to recognised qualification standards at Level 3
Knowledge and understanding of Government and local policy developments in the field of learning disability and/or mental health
