Position Summary
The Nestlé Product Technology Centre (NPTC) is part of a global network of Research Centres with NPTC York focusing purely on excellence in confectionery worldwide.  Whether chocolate, healthy snacking or wafer-based treats, the NPTC leads the way in how they’re developed, processed, and packaged.  It’s a place where creativity meets practicality, but where being pragmatic doesn’t hinder ideas.  If anything, it calls for more expertise and ingenuity to make fantastic initial ideas become exceptional launches.

 

We have a great opportunity available for a Electrical biased Engineering Technician to join our team at the PTC, to support on ensuring the site is set up for Research & Development projects as an electrical engineering expert. This role is a unique engineering role as it will at times enable you to travel across to different Markets to support on deployment projects.

NPTC Confectionery York is Nestlé’s leading centre for confectionery Research & Development, working in partnership with 3 development centres in Chile, China and Ivory Coast. In York we are a team of 170 amazing people from over 30 nationalities and a variety of academia. A day in the life of Electrical Engineering Technician
Reporting into our Engineering Group Leader, you will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to provide practical technical support for a range of internal projects, delivering a combination of scheduled & reactive maintenance, project support, coaching & advice depending on current business priorities. This role is essentially working within the confectionery pilot plant for engineering solutions in our innovative Factories, focussing on efficiency and sustainability.

This is varied and fast paced role, some key responsibilities will include:

•    Install, commission, modify, maintain and repair NPTC equipment in accordance with necessary safety and hygiene standards.
•    Actively participate in maintenance routines to ensure that maintenance activities are scheduled and executed on time & are of high quality to minimise fault recurrence.
•    Create standard maintenance procedures to align with schedules.
•    Provide support to eliminate safety risks and chronic technical issues.
•    Provide technical expertise to reduce both technical and production losses, including coaching and/or participating in problem solving, implementing solutions, sharing knowledge, building competence.
•    You will be the responsible for the process electrical safety.
•    Support other markets with deployment projects of new machinery and technologies as an electrical expert.
What will make you successful?

 

We’re looking for candidates with a real passion for Food Manufacturing other key skills and experiences include:

•    Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in electrical engineering (or equivalent) & who have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
•    Qualified within 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
•    Experience in Installation and inspection and Testing e.g minor works training or City and Guilds.
•    Self-starter with the ability to prioritse work schedules.
•    Proven track record and knowledge maintaining, repairing, and modifying food processing/packaging plant and associated equipment.
•    Understand and comply with current Health & Safety rules and regulations inc COSHH, PUWER, EWR’s etc.
•    Competent use of a maintenance database to track schedules, costs, materials & work plans (SAP Asset Maintenance Management beneficial)
•    Knowledge of LEAN principles.
•    Comply with food hygiene standards with an appreciation for “hygienic engineering”
Management and coordination of contractors and service providers to provide goods and services for installation and process maintenance.
