Job: Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Coordinator
Duration: Temporary (Part-time, 20 hours per week)
Location: Oxfordshire
I am currently recruiting on a Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Coordinator for my client who are global biotechnology company that aims to discover, develop and commercialize innovative new medicines so people with serious diseases can lead better lives.
Position Summary
The EH&S Coordinator is responsible for contributing to the effective performance of the EH&S team. Reporting to the Senior Manager EH&S, the person must be capable of working independently and carrying out administration and coordination tasks to a high standard. This role is based at the UK R&D site in Oxfordshire and is focused on providing support to the EH&S team supporting both UK sites and International Commercial offices in Europe.
This is a varied role which requires excellent administration skills coupled with basic EH&S skills. The EH&S co-ordinator is an effective organizer, has an eye for detail and is able to managed multiple tasks.
The ideal candidate has an interest in health and safety with some previous experience in a Facilities, Training, Science or Health & Safety related function.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepares EH&S documentation including Policies/procedures, minutes & agendas
* Maintains EH&S databases and electronic/hard copy records
* Administers and develops EH&S SharePoint site
* Coordinates and reviews employee ergonomic assessments
* Collates safety inspection reports from departments
* Organizes EH&S training with internal and external providers
* Coordinates appointments for Occupational Health & face-fit testing
* Organizes EH&S supplies e.g. First aid supplies, safety signs, etc.
* Coordinates employee eye test claims and prescription safety glasses claims
* Assists with paperwork and regulatory licenses e.g. controlled substance programs
* Contributes to EH&S team projects and initiatives
Technical & Communicative Skills
* Possesses excellent record keeping and general administration skills
* Has an awareness of UK Health, Safety and Environmental requirements
* Displays excellent attention to detail with documentation and communications
* Experience of carrying out Ergonomic assessments e.g. DSE assessor
* Deals with sensitive and confidential information appropriately e.g. accident records
* Demonstrates excellent communication, verbal and written and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint)
* Proven ability to establish own priorities & effectively manage multiple tasks
Position Qualifications
* A levels or Diploma (or equivalent)
* Health & Safety qualification desirable (e.g. NVQ, IOSH, British Safety Council courses)
* Workstation Ergonomics or Display Screen Equipment Training
