Document Controller / Technical Author
Document Controller / Technical Author required to join a leading pharmaceutical company based in Birmingham. The successful Document Controller / Technical Author will be able to read engineering and electrical line drawings and will ideally have worked in a similar position within the pharmaceutical or aeronautical industry.
The Package:
Salary: £30,000 – £36,000
Hours of work: 8:30 to 17:00 with 30 min lunch break.
Holidays: annual entitlement is 4 weeks + statutory holidays.
Pension: Contributory pension scheme – employer 5% and employee a minimum of 2%.
Insurance Cover. Death in Service benefit of 4x annual salary.
Duties:
To prepare a range of technical documentation for engineering projects.
The documents to be provided for a project are defined during the quotation stage. Once an order is received the company then needs to provide the documents to an agreed schedule as part of the deliverables of the project. The position entails the writing of technical documentation in conjunction with the company’s designers and technical staff, agreeing these with the project manager and then submitting them to the customer.
After review by the customer the documents may need correction and resubmission.
The incumbent will be responsible for the writing of the documents in conjunction with the project engineers, ensuring that they are submitted and returned on time.
The position entails liaison with the customer at all levels including face to face meetings and hence the person must be capable of presenting a good image.
The position also entails writing issuing and checking of in house checking protocols for goods being received and despatched.
The position also entails the control of the company’s documents for the ISO 9000 system.
The position also includes the preparation of programmes for projects and day to day liaison with customers in a general project management role.Key Requirements:
Be able to read engineering and electrical line drawings
Be able to understand and communicate engineering principles of design
Be computer literate and able to work with the following programmes: Essential – Microsoft, Word, Excel Project, Outlook and Explorer
Ideally the candidate should have a background in documentation writing preferably for the Pharmaceutical industry but other industries requiring the same level of documentation such as aeronautics, or other high quality engineering would be acceptable.
