Salary: £26,000 – £30,000 per year
Lawson Leigh Resourcing is a specialist Green Recruitment Consultancy working in the Renewable Energy, Environmental, Waste Management, Sustainability, Utilities, Aerospace and Build Environment sectors.
We are working in partnership with world’s leading Solar EPC contractor with more than 1GWp installed, supplying more than 1 million people with solar energy.
They now seek a Development and Planning Assistant to join their team in Bucks
This is a new role, based at the Head Office, created to support excellent existing and forecasted growth.
Development & Planning Assistant Solar PV
Role overview: Pro-active assistant to support the Development & Planning team in achieving planning consents for all in-house solar power plant projects
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the preparation of planning applications for all in-house solar power plant projects
• To support the Managers in exploring possible development opportunities including the identification of potential sites
• Analysis of sites identified as suitable for solar farms
• Undertake site search reports
• Ability to use GIS system to enhance capabilities to prioritise sites
• Assist with preparing EIA screening and scoping requests before submitted to councils
• Assist with the preparation of application supporting documents including Planning Statements, Design and Access Statements and Statements of Community Involvement
• Assist with discharging planning conditions post determination
• Provide follow-up on the development & planning managers tasks on an on-going basis
• Assistance with co-ordination of public and key stakeholder consultations
• Providing timely, dependable assistance in co-ordinating various day-to-day development & planning tasks
• Working with in-house grid team and in-house design team
• Assist in other duties as requested
Skills required:
• Must have a degree related to planning or energy/ renewables sector with a minimum of one year’s experience in a similar role
• You must be familiar with planning regulations
• Working knowledge of the environmental impact assessment process
• Excellent organisation skills with the persistence to see tasks through to completion and meet deadlines
• Ability to prioritise and manage a number of tasks concurrently
• Excellent standard of both written and verbal communication
• A commercial mind-set
• Strong research analysis skills, applied both whilst desk based and ‘on-site’
• Ability to build relationships including with key stakeholders across different levels in and out of the organisation
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite packages is essential, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to use either a Geographic Information System (either ArcView or Mapinfo)
• A self-starter, flexible mindset
