Design Engineer

Assistant Design Engineer
This is a fantastic opportunity with great prospects for an Assistant Design Engineer to join a very successful and leading Biogas company which is expanding due to new projects being won.
Previous experience in the biogas, renewable energy or process industry would be preferable or gas, pumps and vessels sectors.
Key duties will include:
Project Support
• Providing technical support where required
• Preparing technical and contractual documentation
• Attending client/supplier meetings to assist with negotiations and specification
• Liaison with suppliers and contractors ensuring on time delivery of projects
Design
• Management and upkeep of a design filing system
• Generating engineering drawings, P&ID’s and bill of materials
• Implementing design changes initiated by our equipment partner
• Working with partners and suppliers ensuring all design documents are up to date and correct
• Compiling documentation for build and operational manuals
• Identifying potential design improvements
Procurement
• Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers
• Purchasing equipment and components
• Ensuring equipment and components meet specification and quality standards
Qualifications and Attributes
• Minimum HNC/HND qualification in engineering or equivalent industry experience
• Experienced Solidworks user with good knowledge of EPDM and practical vault.
• Conversant with AutoCad, Microsoft Project and the Microsoft Office suite
• General knowledge of fabricated assemblies, equipment design and installation.
• A good working knowledge of process and instrumentation
• Some experience of process pipework would be an advantage.
• Excellent people and communication skills
• A good commercial awareness with the ability to form strong client relationships
£38K – Bonus
Enthusiastic, flexible and be prepared for some travel and overnight stays within the UK and occasional European travel will be required.
Clean driving license, passport and able to work in the UK essential.
