An excellent opportunity for a Design Coordinator with a large, midlands based Design & Build contractor.

Our client is looking for a Design Coordinator with experience of Design & Build contracts in the midlands region. The company is one of the largest contractors in the UK with an annual group turnover in excess of £1 Billion. The midlands region has been established for several decades and enjoys an excellent reputation with both their clients and employees alike.

The Design Coordinator opportunity is for their general contracting business who undertake a broad range of projects including commercial, education, industrial, high rise residential, hotels and large care home projects. Predominantly Design & Build, projects are typically valued at between £5 Million to £20 Million.

The opportunity

As Design Coordiantor you will be responsible for coordinating the design process typically ensuring their successful delivery throughout the build life-cycle from pre-construction through to handover.

Reporting to the Head of Design Management the Design Coordiantor role will be responsible for coordinating the design process including

• Buildability and value engineering;
• Working with clients, architects and consultants;
• Attending and chairing design meetings with relevant stakeholders;
• Coordinate, manage and disseminate all relevant drawings and paperwork;
• Ensuring the design process is managed throughout and the building is successfully delivered in line with all specifications.

Required experience

Successful applicants will have a proven track record of undertaking the role of Design Coordinator or Assistant Design Manager for a main contractor who undertake projects of a similar size and nature. In addition successful applicants should hold an HNC (NVQ equivalent) or degree level qualification in a construction discipline.
