PostgreSQL DBA – (Home-working) Up to £45k + Bonus

Company

This very successful international organisation, which operates in more than 50 countries, has big plans for the coming year. They are growing considerably and have the very achievable plans to shake up the market they operate in! They are effectively overhauling all the IT systems and rebuilding all of their systems from scratch. This is a home working role where you?ll have complete autonomy for your work but you?d be expected to attend meetings at either the Leicester or London office every 6-8 weeks.

Role & responsibilities

* Working predominantly with PostgreSQL, to a lesser extent – MS SQL / NoSQL technologies.
* Maintaining development, production and QA databases as part of a team.
* Working with developers to optimise queries / functions.
* Using diagnostics to improve existing queries / functions to enhance performance.
* Database optimisation – indexing, analysing, bloat management, table and partition management, dblink and foreign data wrappers.
* Database maintenance – backup & recovery, maintaining replication & hot standby clusters.
* Improving memory, CPU / disk database assignment.
* Database monitoring.

Skills / Experience
Essential:
* Previous commercial experience as a development DBA that includes database architectural & administration skills.
* Significant DBA experience with PostgreSQL / SQL Server / MySQL (in that order of preference)
* Experience of performance tuning databases, and knowledge of back up & recovery methodologies.
* Experience of query tuning, replication & clustering, & ANSI SQL knowledge.
