Data Science Manager

Salary: £96,000 – £102,000 per year

Data Science Manager, West London, £80-85K + 20% Bonus + Bens. You should have a background as a Data Science Manager with experience of leading high performing data science teams in a fast paced environment.

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Data Science & Credit Risk you will lead a rapidly growing team of talented and ambitious Data Scientists and help them reach their potential, grow and maximise their impact and value they create for the business.

• Lead and manage a team of Data Scientists and help them improve their technical and presentation skills and grow to reach their full potential in a diverse and inclusive environment

• Ensure that focus is on the appropriate priorities and aligned to the business and team OKRs

• Supervise the development, testing, validation and deployment of ML models in live environments and their ongoing performance monitoring

• Create and maintain guidelines for ML model development, validation and testing as well as documentation to ensure consistency, efficiency and best practices

• Manage the development and maintenance of high quality data structures and feature stores to facilitate efficient and scalable model building and reporting

• Supervise the building and maintenance of automated reports and dashboards with KPIs to monitor business performance

• Summarise and present recommendations and proposals to senior management with actionable insights

• Work within cross-functional teams to deliver key business initiatives

Your background:

• You have good experience of leading data science teams, ideally in a fast paced environment

• You have experience with hiring, coaching and leading diverse high performing teams

• You have strong knowledge and understanding of modern ML methodologies and statistical methods and supporting ML model deployment to live environments

• You have decent knowledge and good understanding of SQL and R or Python

• You don’t mind being hands-on when necessary

• You are able to present complex technical details, concepts and information in an easy to digest and understand format to senior management

• You have a high tolerance for ambiguity and frequently changing priorities and a genuine can-do attitude with the ability to self-drive projects to completion

A bonus to have but not essential:

• You have a solid background in Data Science or other analytics teams

• You have a bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in a STEM subject or any other equivalent experience

• You have work experience in the Financial Services / FinTech sector

• You have work experience in ML building teams within Credit Risk / Decision Science

• You have experience working with cloud based technologies for ML (especially GCP or AWS)

• You have good knowledge of ML scorecard monitoring and its importance

• You have experience with version control tools (e.g. Git)

This Data Science Manager role is a hybrid position (2 days a week in the office), based in West London and pays c£80-85K + 20% Bonus, 25 days holiday + 1 extra on your Birthday, annual personal development budget.
