Salary: £36,000 – £48,000 per year

COST ACCOUNTANT

£30k – £40k + BENEFITS

My client currently has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced COST ACCOUNTANT to join the finance department at their site in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role is primarily to support all aspects of the accounting and finance operations of the business.

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for the ongoing valuation and analysis of inventory movement, manufacturing variances, absorption costing, margin analysis, stock reduction projects and explaining variances to plan. The Cost Accountant must also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management.

THE ROLE:

  • Daily review inventory and production movements
  • Production of material and production variance reports
  • Work with Operation management and other stakeholders to explain variances against plan and forecast
  • Work with management to develop ways to improve overall productivity
  • Attendance at daily production meetings
  • Weekly & Month End Reporting
  • Production of inventory valuation reports & analysis, explaining adverse inventory movements
  • Validate the inventory valuations at closing, plus analysis of balance sheet accounts.
  • Support the finance department to achieve 1-day closing, including posting journal entries.
  • Maintain standard costing is and valuations applied to inventory items, updating BOMs where required.
  • Review monthly material costs for changes and inconsistencies.
  • Complete ad-hoc tasks to support the Financial Controller make key decisions.
  • Stores Inventory management.
  • Provide AR and AP monthly forecast.
  • Provide AR and AP MDM support when needed.
  • Establish standard costs and update as appropriate.
  • Ensure the data held in ERP system has integrity and is maintained in a timely fashion with any issues identified and resolved.
  • Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies.
  • Development of reporting tools
  • Proactively develop more efficient reporting across financial control
  • Completion of internal audit assessments/ support external audit.
  • Aid other areas of Finance as required
  • To perform any other reasonable requests made by the Company that aligns with capabilities, training, and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Qualified in an accounting discipline; CIMA / ACA / ACCA

• Background in a manufacturing / engineering company

• Part qualified / qualified accounting qualification, knowledge of financial / management accounting with practical experience, developed system skills, implementing reporting improvements

• Minimum 3 years cost/management accounting experience

• Knowledge of ERP systems, Excel, database management

• Strong Excel knowledge, VBA is preferred

• Experience of working in a manufacturing environment, using integrated ERP systems.

• Strong knowledge of Excel and data analysis.

• Ability to work in a structured manner, working proactively and remotely where necessary

• Analysis and evaluation of data produced to understand implications, communicate to management, and implement the corrective actions required on a timely basis

• Able to work in process orientated environment
