Job Description
Trainee CNC Setter Operator
Salary: GBP8 to GBP8.50 p/h
Location: Whitstable
Hours: 37.5

Our client are a market leading, global, interconnect specialist and they are looking for a Quality manufacturing engineer. They specialise in the design and manufacture of a diverse range of connectors and interconnect products for a highly demanding customer base in the Aerospace, Military and Industrial sectors.

Overall Purpose of the role:

Train to set and operate CNC Multi-tasking Lathes.

Key tasks that enable purpose of role to be achieved to the expected performance level:

· Set and operate CNC Multi-tasking Lathes
· Inspection of work produced using measuring equipment to Engineering Drawings and reporting of any quality defects to supervision
· Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly maintenance checks on machines, including maintaining good housekeeping standards and reporting any issues promptly to supervision
· Responsible for optimising efficiencies through reduced set-up and cycle times, plus tool life monitoring
· Liaise with Team Leaders and Supervisors to ensure work is completed on time
· Adherence to Health and Safety procedures

Qualifications

Apprenticeship gained within a manufacturing environment
HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering

Experience

Practical, hands on experience in manual or CNC turning.
Manufacturing experience, ideally within a component or assembly industry

Technical Knowledge

Ability to read and understand technical drawings
Lean and continuous improvement skills, including 5S

Skills and Competencies

Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
Good housekeeping
