Cloud Services Systems Engineer – the opportunity
We’re delighted to be working with this mid-size, global technology services company, who are highly ambitious and successful and deliver solutions into an interesting and fast-moving sector. This is a key role in a very talented infrastructure team and in a nutshell, what we’re looking for is a VMWare guru.
Cloud Services Systems Engineer – the role
The primary focus of this role is the support and evolution of the Data Centre platform that underpins the company’s Private Cloud services. The role consists of a healthy mixture of design, project and support work, across a range of internal and customer projects in the Finance sector.
Our client is looking for someone who can take a lead on the maintenance and development of their virtualised platforms, so the ability to define, design and implement leading-edge VMWare infrastructures is a key part of the role. The role remains very hands-on and also involves providing support to external customers and escalations from internal (3rd line) teams.
There’s plenty to learn, with an ongoing desire to hone the platform by introducing new technologies (e.g. automation).
The role is based in London (Central London office, Docklands Data Centre) with part home-working if you’d prefer.
Cloud Services Systems Engineer – essential requirements
- VMWare: strong experience of designing, supporting and implementing vSphere, VCenter, ESXi
- Experience in Data Centres with large numbers of physical & virtual servers
- Good knowledge of SANs AND DR technologies
- Strong general Wintel experience
The following would be nice to have: –
- Hardware/software load balancing (e.g. Netscaler)
- Network troubleshooting & monitoring (Solarwinds, PRTG etc)
- Linux experience
- of Public Cloud (Azure, M365 suite, AWS)
- Citrix Horizon & VDI
