Job Description: Cloud Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer to join our client’s team. Working in conjunction with architects, product owners, systems engineers and other business stakeholders, you will be responsible for the technical design, implementation and operations of public cloud environments.

This will include:

* Advising and shaping technical best practices

* Implementing designs to ensure security, scalability and robustness of all created services

* Advising on scope, interfaces and estimate project development effort

* Working with other engineers in our client’s business to provide consistent and novel ways of working, design patterns and cross-team working

They had 5 vacancies to fill in a new cloud team and have filled 4 so far (2 architects and 2 Engineers). This is an AWS focussed role (the others recruited were more Azure. For this one you need to have strong skills in AWS, Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform) & Agile. They have recruited a Cloud Engineer at a grad + 1 year experience level and a Cloud Engineer with 6 years’ experience. What they want is someone who complements both of these, ideally with 2-4 years’ experience. Always open to options but this is the ideal.

Essential Criteria: Cloud Engineer

* Experience as an engineer for cloud infrastructure or cloud-hosted software

* Understanding and experience of emerging cloud services and data architectures

* Experience using DevOps technologies

* Experience in working in an agile software development environment

* Good knowledge of AWS

Desirable: Cloud Engineer

* AWS or Azure certification

* Previous experience with MOD, agency and customers with sensitive information

* Experience working with a number of agile workflow tools including: JIRA, Confluence, Agile

* Good use and understanding of tooling such as Git, Jenkins, Terraform, CloudFormation

* Experience at working with agile at scale using frameworks such as SAFe or LeSS
