Children and Youth Worker

East Kent Mencap is currently developing a new range of services aimed at children and young people with learning disabilities and we are seeking to recruit a new team of employees which will include Seniors and Youth Workers.

In addition to the existing services, we will support children within their own homes, to access their community and engage in social activities. This support will be offered to children with a wide variety of needs.

Your role will be to work as part of a team, be a key worker and support your colleagues to promote good practice and the well being of the people we support. You must be able to demonstrate a reliable and flexible approach to people with learning disabilities, families, colleagues and other professionals.

We are currently offering full time, part time and flexible contracts based initially in Thanet to cover day time, evening, weekend and overnight stays during both term time and non-term time. Previous experience is desirable for these opportunities.

Our service includes community access using a company vehicle and successful applicants. It would be preferable for applicants to hold a full driver’s license.

An NVQ3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is essential for this role or you must be prepared to work towards it. In return we offer a full induction and training programme.
