One of the uk’s largest environmental management and Hazardous Waste Companies, operating throughout the UK.
The Position
Your main purpose as a Site Chemist will be to provide technical waste assessments and ensure waste acceptance procedures adhered to for all CERM sites. You must keep up to date and review all new legislations.
Your key roles as site chemist will be:
· Assess suitable waste management options (disposal/restoration/treatment) of customer enquiries by undertaking hazardous waste assessment in accordance with current technical guidance/legislation and comparison against in house waste thresholds / internal waste acceptance procedure.
· Preparation and management of waste sampling plans with determination of specific compliance sampling requirements
· Assessment of compliance analysis results against the relevant waste management permit and follow-up of any corrective action required
· Production of reports for use internally and by the Regulator
· Auditing of waste acceptance procedures & associated documentation e.g. Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes
· Provide assistance in the production of waste returns for all CERM licensed and permitted sites.
Person Specification
· Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years experience within contaminated land, industrial chemistry, waste management or another relevant technical area.
· Education to Degree level in Chemistry, Environmental Science or associated subject or background in contaminated soil assessment
· Minimum of a c level in GCSE Maths and English or Equivalent.
· Able to plan and prioritise as required
