Salary: £33,600 – £38,400 per year
Our client’s joinery workshop and on-site carpentry have become a key part of our landscaping and construction business priding itself on delivering the highest quality garden buildings and exterior joinery solutions. They are now looking to recruit a hands-on manager to take the day-to-day control of our busy workshop and site team based in Eynsham, Oxfordshire. This is a key management position, and as such will offer a competitive salary to the right person. They are looking for someone with a proven track record gained from within a similar role or someone looking to make the next step, someone with excellent planning and communication skills.
You will be responsible for the direct management of a small team including planning and scheduling their workload, carrying out team meetings, 1:1’s and annual reviews, managing staff development, performance matters, and identifying appropriate training. You will also take part in the recruitment process and induction training as and when required as the company grows. Drawing on your previous experience you will work alongside our designers to produce accurate quotations for upcoming projects along with managing these budgets to ensure the work in progress is delivered on time and as quoted.
Essential Education /Training
– A recognised apprenticeship in carpentry/joinery (NVQ Level 3, City and Guilds or equivalent) or qualified through proven significant practical experience.
– Strong working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act and other relevant legislation including COSHH.
– Computer literate and familiar with the MS Office suite, including the use of operational databases and spreadsheets
– Full driving licence
Essential Relevant Experience
– A proven track record in managing a busy timber/joinery workshop.
– Proven experience of working on their own or as part of a team.
– Proven multi-discipline knowledge in other building maintenance disciplines.
– Experience of working with and organising subcontractors.
– Understanding of Customer Service and willingness to work to Customer Service Excellence standards.
Desirable Skills and Aptitudes
– Ability to write reports clearly, read technical plans and be an effective communicator.
– Ability to respond to and prioritise workload to meet the needs of the job.
– Good interpersonal skills.
