Duration: 6 month Fixed Term Contract

Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to deliver and facilitate Careers Education, Careers Information and Careers Guidance (CEIG) to one of London’s most prominent Universities and their students, in order to enhance their employability and assist their career development in line with the department’s and the University’s strategic plan.
The role focuses on co-ordinating and taking the lead on delivering CEIG services in
accordance with best practice and quality assurance as mapped out by the QAA.
Part of a growing team of Careers Advisors, the post holder will be the main point of contact for the academic and support staff within the faculty; ensuring departmental strategy is well communicated and gains the support within the faculty and the CBR team. The post holder will give careers advice and, given appropriate training, deliver the University’s career development programme via one-to-one consultations.

Main Responsibilities
1. Developing and delivering CEIG to students through workshops, one-to-one
consultations and presentations, in line with the department’s strategic plan.
2. To assist in the delivery of modular career development programme to students from first year to postgraduate level.
3. To contribute to the development of the department’s online resources
4. To monitor recruitment trends and demands of labour markets and use labour market
information to inform guidance activities.
5. To maintain and develop links with employers in conjunction with the department’s
business development systems and strategy.
6. To conduct project based and research activities that will contribute to best practice in the department and to network with fellow careers professionals in order to facilitate market research.
7. To update and improve skills through continuous professional development and to
attend relevant conferences, training courses and to keep abreast of research relating to CEIG.
8. To assist the departmental team in its prime objective, i.e. to help students place themselves in temporary and permanent positions utilising the department’s modular career development programme. This includes research into information on possible internship and career opportunities.
9. To apply, monitor and report on metrics within the department.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Qualification in Careers Guidance (QCG) / Diploma in Careers Guidance, or(NVQ4) in Advice and Guidance or equivalent, or currently in the process of achieving those qualifications.
Computer literate with a good understanding of databases.
Degree or equivalent.
Working knowledge of SITS-Vision.

EXPERIENCE
Relevant experience of providing CEIG in an academic environment to groups and individuals.
Experience of designing and delivering Careers Management skills modules or PDP inputs alongside the curriculum.
Experience of generating employer contacts and links.
Familiarity with Quality standards in the delivery of CEIG in Higher Education.
Teaching and/or training experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Ability to build strong links with other departments, academics and employers.
Strong communicator, both in writing and verbal.
Ability to use own initiative, prioritise workload and work effectively without supervision.
Able to work in a team and own projects.
Experience of working in higher education, especially in a careers function.
Experience of delivering and facilitating group work, workshops and presentations to students.

General interest in recruitment issues.
