CAD Specification Engineer

Woking, Surrey

£27,600 – £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Permanent position

A successful Engineering Company working closely with the NHS & private Medical sectors, are currently looking for a Specification Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and knowledge:

* Computer Aided Design – AutoCAD 2D experience

* A good understanding and previous experience of creating wiring schematics such as CCTV, Fire alarms, and / or Network wiring diagrams etc.

* Previous experience with nurse call system design or similar relatable (data networking, Building management systems, fire alarms)

* Computer literacy including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

* Client focused with a desire to meet the customer’s expectations

* Excellent eye for detail, ensuring high accuracy & quality of output

* Professional, positive, and motivated to achieve

* Good problem-solving skills

* Ability to understand and meet targets

* Excellent administration and organisation skills

* Be a team player but also with the initiative to be appropriately assertive when needed and take the lead to ensure deadlines are met

* Reliable with a good record of time keeping and attendance

The position will involve:

* Working closely with various internal departments including Customer Service, Quotations, Project Management and Sales Teams to develop medical systems & containment designs that meet the specifications and floor plans provided by our clients

* Ensuring customer tenders are thoroughly understood, ambiguities are clarified, omissions are identified & resolved and hence solutions are correctly designed & engineered for the customer quotation and contract

* Liaising with the client, sales team and product experts to gather all required information and develop viable, functioning specifications (i.e. product designs) that will meet the customer needs and be compliant with the British and NHS standards

* Preparing detailed bills of materials for the quotations team along with clear and concise notes and derogations for the customer, all based on the tender information supplied to us.

* Operating as the main point of contact for technical assistance and design advice for the customer and our Sales and Projects Teams

* Providing continuity across the customer project lifecycle from specification through order fulfilment and installation

* Working alongside our product design team to ensure any bespoke products are designed correctly

* Providing approval drawings for bespoke products to customers, ensuring appropriate approvals are received and any design amendments are thoroughly discussed with all parties and re-quoted if required

* Working closely with the Installation and Project Managers to produce accurate wiring diagrams for our own Engineers and also 3rd party installation teams

* Working closely with the customer and our Design Manager to ensure changes, revisions etc are handled in the appropriate manner with any BoM changes being communicated back to the healthcare admin team for order processing

* Producing “As Built” drawings based on marked up floorplans returned by our install teams

* Ensuring all drawings are created, revised and stored in the correct manner

* Developing and maintaining up to date knowledge of the relevant British and NHS standards to ensure design compliance

* Engineering special bespoke variations of our standard products through liaison with our Drawing Office, Costing Department and Technical Manager

* Producing product structures and sketches where required

* Creating the products on our database to allow them to be accurately costed and included within quotes

* Assisting our projects team with system additions, variations, RFIs and other queries to ensure there are no project delays
