Business & Finance Manager – Education / Public Sector

Our client based in the Sandwell area has an exciting new opportunity for a Business & Finance Manager to join the team on an interim basis to cover maternity.

The purpose of this role is to ensure the financial management of this educational establishment complies fully with the requirements of the EFA (Education Funding Agency) and also meets the requirements of the establishments financial handbook, accounts directives and other government, audit and regulation requirements.

This is a challenging an interesting post for the right candidate and covers the following areas of responsibility;

Finance; Supporting the Director of Business & Operations with the strategic and operational development of finance systems, ensure outstanding financial management of resources, healthy balances and sufficient funds to deliver the needs of the business development plan. Preparing and presenting monthly management accounts, update annual budget and 5 year plan, support external audit provider in production of stat annual accounts, prepare and submit stat financial statements in accordance with the EFA and government requirements. Manage and administer multiple bank accounts and investments, monitor cash flow, oversee production of periodic reports to budget holders, and in conjunction with HR to process monthly payroll journals and reconcile to the finance system.

Site; Oversight / management of all grounds, buildings, furnishing and staff to include working closely with the Estates Manager & Operational Staff.

Governance; Timely review and updating of policies and operational procedures within areas of responsibility. supporting the updating of the risk register.

The ideal applicant will posses a relevant accounts qualification and at least 3 years experience within a similar role within an Educational establishment. Working knowledge of H&S legislation in the workplace is also essential and excellent IT Skills.
