OVERVIEW

Our East Midlands based client is a highly prestigious Training Provider organisation who support and advise business organisations across key areas of the East Midlands region. This organisation is now looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to be based from their Derby centre.
The key area of responsibility is to engage with businesses in the three counties who are keen to develop their workforce.

Ideally you will possess:-

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

– To market, recruit and establish employer needs.
– To engage with local businesses in the East Midlands to understand their business and skills development needs and recommend/organise appropriate training solutions delivered through the organisation and associated partners.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
– To develop productive relationships with businesses in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire that will result in the delivery of business support services, training and development activities.
– Identify the needs of employers through Training Needs Analysis/Organisational Needs Analysis and recommend training solutions, services and funding streams to meet those needs.
– Provide mentor support for training and business related issues, design and source appropriate training provision.
– Support attainment of Business Development team targets, through planning and implementation of contact strategies, marketing and operational activities.
– Work with colleagues and partners to ensure that the training provided is flexible, responsive and appropriate to the member needs.
– Monitor the quality of training delivered to ensure that it meet the needs of business.
– Maintain appropriate records eg CRM, monthly monitoring reports, quality assurance and employer feedback
– Build ongoing effective relationships with designated external intermediaries to raise the organisations’s profile and develop new training solutions.
– Contribute to the development of the Self-Assessment Report, Quality Improvement Plan and Business Plan through staff workshops and team meeting.
– Canvass and engage companies with a view to them participating in skills development activity
– Ensure knowledge of all funding streams is current and kept up to date
– Ensure all commercial portfolios are current and up to date
– Carry out detailed Organisational Needs Analysis (ONA) and Training Needs Analysis (TNA) with organisations looking to develop their workforce
– Guide and mentor companies of the best route for development
– Meet targets and deadlines in line with contract requirements and share this information with other team members and management when required.
– Use electronic systems effectively to maximise opportunities of contact with employers and sub-contractors
Complete all associated documentation to refer, record or start the requested learning activity
– Engage in a range of promotional activities with schools and career fairs
Attend staff meetings, workshops, courses and other appropriate events to ensure continuous improvement of programmes and self-development

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Business Development or Sales related qualification at level 3
– English at level 2 standard
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

– Conducting appropriate business / training needs analysis and implementation thereof
– Promotion and sales (in a business to business environment) resulting in achievement of targets to required timescales
– Strong communicator (written, oral and presentation skills), within technical, commercial and educational environments, with good analytical, diagnostic and problem solving skills
– Development and implementation of skills development strategies for clients
– Practical experience of good business practice within an SME environment
– Broad knowledge of Apprenticeship frameworks and delivery methods
– Good understanding of all QCF qualifications and sector areas
– Minimum two-year’s post qualification experience in an employer and or learner engagement roles
– Excellent understanding of all MS Office systems and CIS systems
– Providing coaching and mentoring within a commercial environment
– Sound knowledge of financial accounting, e.g. analysis of profit and loss accounts and balance sheets
– Ability to plan, organise and work under pressure
– Self-motivated and personable – capable of working both as a team player and independently
