Branch Supervisor / Abm – Builders Merchant

The Client: Our client are a leading builders merchant with an excellent reputation.

The Role:Branch Supervisor / Assistant Branch Manager – As a branch supervisor within this busy builders merchant you will play a key role in the operational success of the branch with specific responsibility for achieving targets in sales, margin and profitability across the branch and specifically within the Painting & Ironmongery division.

Working closely with and supporting the Branch Manager and Customer Service Manager you will assist with the day to day management of the branch team, supervising sales, gross margin and operational costs to maximise profitability.

You will play a key role in stock management, managing stock levels and maintaining a core stock range. You will have a hands on approach when supervising and motivating your team and be actively involved with staff training, recruitment and management of staff hours.

You will need to deliver the highest standards of customer service at all times and deal with any customer issues. Other responsibilities will include leading stock takes and other operational duties such as unloading deliveries, order picking and ensuring company vehicles and equipment is well maintained.

A full UK driving licence will be required and training on equipment such as fork lifts will be provided.

The Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

The Candidate: The successful candidate must have management or supervisory experience in either a builders merchant, distribution or retail environment.

You will need to be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of how to increase profit through sales and margin and understand the principles of stock management in a similar environment.

You will need to have dealt with different staffing issues and have a strong appreciation for customer service.

The ideal candidate will have strong product experience in move Lightside and Heavyside building materials.

A full UK driving licence is required.

The Rewards: Competitive basic salary approximately £24,000 – £30,000 with excellent company benefits and progression opportunities. 22 days holiday rising to 25. Company pension & life assurance.
