Bench Fitter / Assembly Worker

Position: Bench Fitter or Assembly Worker
Sector: Assembly, stock control and distribution.

Salary: £26,000 – £26,400per year

The company operates a small UK subsidary for a European manufacturer. Works consist of a small assembly team, warehouse facility and office support.

Vacancy is for a Bench Fitter to work on a days only basis to support the team of this small business, with a possibility of progression to a supervisory role for the right candidate.

The role is very much shop floor based, and will take responsibility for ensuring that the daily production output is achieved in terms of volume, quality and with full regards to health and safety.

Key Tasks / Responsibilities
– Production and distribution of the companies engineered product
– Promote quality, Lean, H&S and all other good shop floor practices and standards.
– Ensure that efficiency values are instilled within every shop-floor employee.
– Run MRP system working in conjuction with Sales office to ensure timely delivery of product.
– Motivate, manage and optimise the development of all operational employees
– Create a culture of continuous improvement ensuring that all requirements are met to improve working practices across the site.
– Work within the guidelines of IS09001:2008
– Attend regular meetings.
– Assist with implementing new in-process inspection methods and analysing / testing within the product specification.
– Liaise and communicate with all departments and areas of the business.
– Ensure all operations are carried out in line with the company’s Health & Safety practices

Candidate Profile:
Ideally we are looking for a person with the following:
– Experience of working in an assembly or distribution environement
– Hands on experience from a similar environment and have probably worked your way up from a shop floor role
– Experience of MRP systems is essential
– Problem solving skills
– Organisational skill, tact and diplomacy
– Have presence, command respect & not be afraid to challenge
– A proven track record of change and continuous improvement in a fast moving manufacturing environment
– Experience of managing workloads and achieving KPI’s
– Good IT skills
– The ability to think logically to a wide range of practical problems
– Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
– Ability to deal with controversial or complex issues
– A high level of knowledge and experience of CI methodologies
– Be willing to be “hands on” and actively participate directly or indirectly
– Ability to work under pressure.
