Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has a fantastic opportunity available for an Assistant Supplies Officer to join our team in Chelston on a full-time, 12 month fixed term contract which may have the potential to be made permanent. In return you will receive a competitive salary of £24,702 – £26,421 per annum.

About the role:
As our Assistant Supplies Officer, you will ensure that appropriate supplies of Uniform, PPE, equipment and accessories are provided and issued in a timely, cost effective and accurate manner in accordance with any Service policies of entitlement. To undertake duties associated with the effective running of the Stores Department and assist in maintaining the requirements of the department’s service level agreement.
You will Support the Management team in maintaining the operational efficiency for the Service through the distribution of uniform and equipment to all DSFRS locations.
Key responsibilities as an Assistant Supplies Officer:
- Administering reservations & returns from fire stations and all Service departments
- Assessing and validating requests against stores records
- Entering all stock and equipment transactions onto the computerised database
- Resolving stock shortages, incorrect items or damaged stock or equipment and raise appropriate documentation for any necessary returns to suppliers
- Assisting with the responsibility of the maintenance of safe & secure systems of work for the stores building, stock and equipment
- Receiving, unloading and unpacking stock, checking consignment notes against orders, examining quality and quantity and reconciling against orders
- Ensuring all stock and equipment received is promptly transferred to the service stores using the stock location system
- Controlling the distribution of stores and equipment to the fire stations and all Service departments
- Maintaining stock and equipment held in the service stores in a serviceable condition and arranging for repairs and cleaning to be undertaken as appropriate
- Undertaking stock checks as required for audit purposes

What we are looking for in our Assistant Supplies Officer:
- A valid fork lift truck licence or the ability and willingness to undertake training to obtain fork lift truck licence
- Proven ability to undertake manual lifting duties
- Proven ability of working with MS Office software packages (MS365, Outlook, Word, Excel Access)
- The ability to develop and maintain clear and accurate record systems, including the ability to recommend improvements
- The ability to produce and populate spreadsheets
