Assistant Project Accountant

We have recently been instructed by a top tier contractor in the UK with respect to appointments they are seeking to make for a Mechanical Estimator to join their Major Projects team.

The role is based in Warrington, Cheshire and will sit within the Finance Team of a Joint Venture for a nuclear project. The main purpose of the role is to assist with the day-to-day operational responsibilities of the Joint Venture Finance function. You will work closely with the Sector Finance Manager and also the project team locally as a key member of the finance team.

This is initially a 2 year fixed term contract.

The duties on a day to day basis will include:

Prepare, maintain and process financial and project transactions using the Oracle finance system;

Analysis of project costs in Oracle system and preparation of monthly cost report to be included in Application for Payment to client;

Liaise with Site Support to obtain additional data to support cost report, including purchasing card transactions;

Maintain plant report and calculate plant accruals to be included in cost report;

Reconciliation of agency worker invoices to project timesheets and extract travel costs;

Upload transactional data from partner systems into Joint Venture finance system;

Reconciliation of Joint Venture finance system to Oracle system;

Prepare partner splits of monthly valuation certificates from client;

Raise monthly cost recovery invoice to Joint Venture;

Prepare weekly project cashflow forecast;

Provide financial support to Project Accountant and Finance Manager.

To be successful in this role, it is essential you should be able to demonstrate experience of contract based accounting and have strong data management and Microsoft Excel skills. Ideally you will be a part qualified accountant, have knowledge of working within internal and external joint ventures and have knowledge of working within a major construction project. Experience using ERP finance packages (Oracle and Sage would be a distinct advantage).
