Assistant Cook (30 Hours) Temporary Maternity Cover

Storthfield House is a 22-bed hospital specialising in male mental health rehabilitation in a safe and comfortable environment, with an adjacent community housing project, The Sycamores, which provides a further community based service for 6 clients who are ready to move to a more independent lifestyle.

The multi-disciplinary team at Storthfield House is made up of medical, psychology, nursing and occupational therapy staff. These staff members work in partnership with the patient and with individual community teams to ensure that treatment programs match the patient’s needs and expectations and the requirements of future community placement.

Job Profile
We are seeking a flexible self-motivated individual who is able to work on their own initiative. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to demonstrate non-discriminatory working practices.

The candidate will assist in, and in the absence of the Head Cook, the organising and control of food preparation/consumption, working within the budgetary constraints whilst ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained.

This is temporary position covering maternity leave, working 30 hours per week, over a period of 7 days. The successful individual will also be expected to work additional hours to cover annual leave and sickness absences.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate must have experience of working within a catering environment and hold the relevant catering qualifications required for this position. You will be fluent in the operation of all kitchen machinery, ensuring the equipment is kept clean and in good working order. You will be expected to serve residents with their meals whilst maintaining portion control, and ensure the soiled crockery and utensils are put through the cleaning process in a timely manner at the end of each meal.
