Our client is the finance company for a well-known automotive group in the UK. Funding products, for retail and business user customers, are developed and delivered to the company retailer networks to assist them in maximising their vehicle sales and income opportunities. Our client has grown year-on-year by continually developing its products and approach to managing customers.
They are now looking to recruit a part time Assistant Controls Accountant within their finance team. This role is 32 hours per week which can be split over four or five days.
What you’ll be doing:
Reporting to the Lead Control Accountant, you will be responsible for the production and follow up of a number of key control reconciliations within the Retail and Fleet function, as well as the development of process improvements to systems and the investigation of balances and reconciling items. A large part of the role will be cross functional working with other operational areas namely Customer Experience, Corporate Solutions, Remarketing, Risk and Finance acting as a consultant and advisor.
Your Responsibilities:
• To complete all relevant Balance Sheet reconciliations in a timely manner, providing summarized information for management.
• Carry out key month end tasks, including analysis in accordance with the month end timetable
• Provide support and guidance to queries arising from various operational areas relating to SAP FI customer account transactions on a day to day basis
• Understand the interaction and impact of subsidiary systems on the main accounting systems
• To assist with any operational or accounting projects as required collaborating with colleagues in IT to ensure clarity of issues/requirements for all change relating to accounting transactions
• Carry out analysis to deliver key operational/management information to differing audiences
• Be a recognised department specialist for key systems ie CMS/SAP FI
• Use of SQL to support analysis activities
• Maintain a detailed knowledge of source data, and the structure and use of financial information from core systems which feeds into the financial statements
• Support UAT where appropriate to ensure that key controls are included within testing to deliver a robust solution
Skills & Experience:
• AAT qualified or part qualified Accountant
• Excellent knowledge of Excel and Office applications (minimum Intermediate level in Excel)
• Knowledge of CMS & SAP FI would be an advantage
• Previous experience in an accounting environment – preferably in Financial Services
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to clearly define and investigate complex business process issues
• Good self-organisation with a proven methodical and disciplined approach to work
• Excellent communicator both verbal and written to Finance and non-Finance staff
• Self-motivated and a strong team player
• Ability to cope with a pressurised environment to meet deadlines, resolving or highlighting blockages as appropriate
