An experienced Assistant Branch Manager is required for an established nationwide aftermarket leader within industrial, automotive, marine and leisure distribution.

Branch Location – Central Bedfordshire – Commutable from Luton, Bedford, Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth Garden City, Shefford

Basic £19-21K + Bonus + Pension + Vehicle

Established for more than 60 years and currently operating from 13 sites, our client has enjoyed continued success in the UK with healthy year on year growth. They specialise in sourcing, importing and distribution of batteries for an extensive range of applications including marine, leisure, automotive, commercial vehicle, industrial and power systems and sell their product predominantly through the after-sales distribution market both in the UK and abroad.

The Role

Reporting to the Branch Director, you will assist in managing all aspects of branch operations, co-ordinating the customer service and warehouse / dispatch function in compliance with QMS ISO 9001: 2008 systems and health and safety standards, ensuring that customer service (both internal & external) and inventory accuracy are optimized.

Principal Accountabilities

• Assist with managing the branch stock inventory from receipt to delivery.
• Assist with the training and development of all employees as necessitated by the branch operation, and in line with Company policy. All of the above must be carried out in accordance with Employment Law.
• To assist in the development of customer service, promoting quality assurance procedures.
• To work very closely with the Branch Manager and other employees in the branch to ensure that best practise and standard operation procedures are maintained within the branch.
• When the Branch Manager is away from the branch you must assume the role and responsibilities until their return.
• Attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills.

Personal Qualities

• Enthusiastic, positive and self-motivated
• Possess excellent communication skills.
• Able to demonstrate an ability to deal confidently with difficult situations
• Possess effective management and leadership skills.
• Possess a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

• Minimum 1 year in similar position
• Minimum 3 years in progressive position.
• Supervisory experience essential.

This role would suit a candidate with experience in the automotive industry within a motor factor, franchise dealer or parts distribution environment.
