Assembly Operative / Jigging Operative / Production Operative

An Assembly Operative / Jigging Operative / Production Operative is required for a large engineering company based in the Aston area of Birmingham. Duties include assembly of automotive and aerospace components onto jigs, visual quality inspection, packing, warehouse and other duties as required. Temp ongoing contract with a view to permanent for the right person. Working up to 3 shifts rotating 37.5hrs per week. £26,000 per year increasing to £7.58 after 12 weeks.

Full duties include –

Loading and unloading of jigs with automotive and aerospace components, ready for heat or surface treatment
Visual quality inspection of treated parts, flagging up any issues or defects
Loading up stillages with components ready to transfer into various other departments
Assisting in the warehouse area, preparing goods for dispatch
Loading and unloading vehicles with stock
Assisting in other areas of the business when required, to provide cover for staff off sick or annual leave
Training to learn a technical area of the business, including machining and production processes, customer liaison and administration.

Applicants MUST have a strong background within either the automotive industry, or be able to demonstrate experience working in a fast paced environment assembling of units. Must also have excellent PC Literacy, numeracy and communication skills. Must also be prepared to work up to 3 shifts including nights if required.

Position is a long term opportunity with a view to permanent for the right person. Various opportunities to be trained up in areas of the business to operate machines and processes, for candidates with the right atttiude / work ethic.

Working hours are 6am – 2pm / 2pm – 10pm / 10pm – 6am rotating shifts Mon to Fri

Rate of pay will start at £26,000per year (negotiable), with a view to increase after a successful 12 week qualifying period.

Overtime paid after 37.5hrs per week, Time & 1/3 Weekday, Time & 1/2 Saturday, Double time Sunday.
