Area Retail Manager – Isle of Thanet Branch

The new branch area retail manager will be responsible for the area’s three retail shops and shop managers The main focus of the role is to maximise profits and continue the on going work to improve the shops which fund the branch animal centre.

The successful candidate will have plenty of common sense, a natural flair for display and merchandising and real enthusiasm for the world of charity shops.

Extensive experience of managing staff is essential with a minimum of two years, and previous charity experience is preferred.

The role will include working in each of the shops one day of a week to cover the manager’s days off including Saturday each week and managing a rota for holiday cover. The rest of the week will be divided according to the operational needs of the shops.

The area retail manager will be expected to collate weekly takings figures, spotting issues along the way, coming up with new ideas for income generation, overseeing display and presentation, promoting the shops within local communities, helping to recruit volunteers and generate stock donations. A fourth shop is planned and the area retail manager will be responsible for over seeing its opening and looking for more premises in the area.

The top selling item within the shops is ladies’ clothes so a knowledge of fashion and trends.

The area retail manager will be responsible for making sure all shops and their managers comply with branch rules, including health and safety.

A full driving license is essential with use of own car.

The role is 40 hours a week and includes weekend working.
