We are working on behalf of our client GS Associates to fill this vacancy. This position is based in Carlisle.
GS Associates has fast become one of the market leaders for retail cleaning services. Every day, their team of over 6,000 operatives clean 20 million square feet of retail space throughout the UK, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Area Manager, managing contract cleaning to join this expanding company reporting directly to the Account Director with core responsibility to ensure the delivery of a high level of service as agreed and outlined in the contract agreement between G.S. Associates and the client. The Area Manager must be aware of the contractual specification on the account and communicate this clearly to their team ensuring that the clients expectations are delivered at all times.
As an Area Manager your duties will be to:
• Demonstrate the values of GS Associates and lead by example at all times.
• Carry out structured site visits that ensure that specifications are met and customer expectations are positively managed.
• Ensure effective team working through structured meeting disciplines allowing for business reviews and clear communication cascades.
• Coach, develop and mentor the site managers to deliver brilliant cleaning standards.
• Manage and work within the labour cost budget on a site by site basis.
• Ensure that all budgets are adhered to across your portfolio of sites.
• Manage the payroll and payment of staff, ensuring that timesheets and medical certificates, new start and leaver information is collated accurately and submitted within the defined timescales.
• Ensure that holidays are managed effectively through the holiday booking / authorisation forms and wall planners. Review holiday plans and rotas` to ensure that there is adequate cover at all times.
• Ensure that each site operates to the agreed manning guide in line with the client specification and that all employees are working to a job card maximising productivity.
• Review business measures and KPI data and communicate trends and themes to help inform senior management decision making.
• Coach and support site managers and supervisors to find solutions to employee issues.
• Manage all HR and employee relations issues in accordance with the Company HR policies and in consultation with the relevant HR representative and effectively carry out; disciplinary, grievance and appeal hearings etc., where appropriate.
• Ensure that on site teams understand their roles, responsibilities and what is expected of them.
• Review and carry out audits accurately and on time, take the necessary actions to turnaround underperforming areas.
• Complete and submit all necessary paperwork accurately and on time, ensuring sign off where required of completed tasks.
An ideal Area Manager will hold the following skills and experiences:
• Should be proactive, professional, have a flexible approach, good leadership and management skills as well as work in partnership with the store management and other on site contractors.
• You are required to drive standards proactively and meet deadlines, liaise with people at all levels, work accurately and respect confidentiality of the organisation and the client.
• Delivery of a responsive service in a customer driven environment.
• Excellent organisational and effective leadership skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to be flexible with working hours, willingness to manage change within a diverse working environment.
• Ability to work under own initiative and demonstrate effective problem solving
• I.T Literate.
• Proven experience of managing people, ideally across multiple sites.
• Proven track record dealing with customers.
This role is 40 hours per week and will require flexible working including weekends to meet the needs of the business and client.
In return you will receive a salary of £30,000per annum.
