Agile Product Owner
A powerhouse within the integrated wealth management and professional services industry are looking for an Agile Product Owner to join their team in Bracknell on a permanent basis, with the option to work remotely twice each week.
Job purpose
The Agile Product Owner will have a user-centric and delivery approach to product development and be responsible for supporting the product’s success, accountable to stakeholders and team members.
The role involves co-creating the vision and roadmap for the product, in collaboration with commercial owners and proposition leads, balancing customer requirements against technical feasibility and product cost constraints, ensuring the voice of the client is not lost.
Working as part of a wider team including the Chief Marketing Officer, Proposition Lead, Service Design, Operations and Customer Service teams to prioritise the most valuable features that not only make our service the best in class but deliver a delightful client experience.
As a strong communicator, coordinator, and collaborator they’ll work closely with the Delivery, Design and Technical Leads, together with the development team, to set priorities, plan sprints and releases. They will also work closely with QA to guarantee quality, performance, and user experience are effectively tested.
The right person for the role also needs a strong understanding of technical concepts and architectures to help prioritise technical debt alongside delivering new features and product enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with business/project stakeholders to identify business needs and use that as input into defining a product vision, roadmap and documentation and requirements for the application/system scope, ensuring the solutions support short- and long-term company objectives and needs.
- Convert the detailed scope/requirements documentation into clearly defined user stories that development teams will use to plan, develop, test and implement application/system functionality.
- Help developers understand what needs to be built, why it’s important to the end-user and the business.
- Work with the development team to define the scope of each feature or user story and ensuring it’s aligned with market needs
- Maintaining an ordered backlog of prioritized items that need to be developed in the next sprint
- Actively participating in grooming sessions to break down epics into user stories
- Accepting or rejecting completed work from the team based on acceptance criteria
- Managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring everyone is on the same page
- Act as a primary communicator and link between stakeholders and development teams, performing demos regularly and collecting feedback from stakeholders/users
- Remain outcome driven and client centric at all times, championing the voice of the customer when making key prioritization decision.
- Be focused on delivering real business value and quality with each sprint.
Key Skills and Experience Required
- Product ownership – the core strategic skills of product ownership, building the overall value proposition, business model, vision and roadmap that enable us to focus on the right outcomes for the client.
- Lifecycle perspective – understanding the different phases of the product lifecycle.
- Be very familiar with agile working practices.
- The ability to work with senior stakeholders to build, manage and execute complex roadmaps and be able to push back when required.
- The desire to continually learn and disrupt the status quo with the confidence and maturity to experiment with new methods and tools.
- A clear understanding of the importance of solid user research, user testing and competitor analysis.
- Collaboration with key UX/Product/Service Design partners.
- Experience within financial services, FinTech or investment management is also highly beneficial.
