Additional Learning Support Manager

The college is embarking on an ambitious period of growth and they require an experienced manager to come in and manage their ALS provision. Due to the importance of this role, the college require an individual who has an in depth understanding of the Learning Difficulties of ALS as well as an extensive knowledge of ALS funding and the processes around this.

Some of the duties of the role will include, but are not limited to:
– Taking an active role in the strategic development of the ALS area
– Ensuring that the Learning Support Service is a dynamic and effective area for the college
– Being the college lead in ALS funding and budgets, and ensure that the provision is both efficient and effective
– Managing the staff that fall within the ALS department, including Learning Support Workers
– Liaising with external agencies such as Local Government

Therefore, the college is looking for the following experience and qualifications:
– Have a teaching qualification (DTLLS, PGCE, Cert Ed etc) with a literacy specialism
– 3 – 5 years experience of managing in an FE College
– Knowledge of ALS funding methodology
– Understanding of the complex emotional, social and behavioural difficulties of ALS
