Accounts Assistant – Renewable Energy Association (REA)
Reports to: Head of Controlling
Salary:Circa 24,000 (depending upon experience)
Location: Victoria, Central London
Job Type This is a temporary to permanent position with standard full time office hours

The Renewable Energy Association (REA) was established in 2001, as a not-for-profit trade association, representing British renewable energy producers and promoting the use of renewable energy in the UK. The REA endeavours to achieve the right regulatory framework for renewables to deliver an increasing contribution to the UK’s electricity, heat and transport needs. Purpose of the role
The Accounts Assistant will assist the Head of Controlling with day to day account functions and help with making sure that all HR documents are up to date.
Responsibilities

Working with spreadsheets, sales and purchase ledgers and journals

Receiving and processing all invoices, expense forms and requests for payment

First point of contact with all creditors who may have queries regarding outstanding invoices, or staff / non staff expenses

Reconciliation of supplier statements

Distribution of supplier invoices for authorisation to various departments
-
Ensuring all supplier invoices are filed accurately and timely

Responsible for issuing any adhoc sales invoices

Resolving customer queries
-
Monitor and review of outstanding invoices with prompt resolution of queries

Allocation of payments to customer and supplier accounts

Bank reconciliations and banking of cheques
-
Sending out of statements to customers and helping with credit control from time to time

Managing petty cash transactions

Reconciling finance accounts and direct debits

Preparing the quarterly Vat returns and submitting to HMRC
-
Helping with some HR duties. Making sure that all the relevant documentation for new employees have been received and have been filed

Any other duties which are deemed necessary for the effective running of the department
Skills and Qualifications
-
Working knowledge of Sage Accounts
-
Good knowledge of purchase and sales ledger, VAT and manual book keeping is essential

Technical skills as follows:
- Word (intermediate level)
- Excel (intermediate level)
Person Specification

Strong understanding of the workings of an office
-
Understanding of accountancy and book-keeping
-
Would hold or be working towards an AAT certificate or related accountancy qualification
-
Hardworking, adaptable, analytical and proactive
-
Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with customers and external contacts
-
Good organisational skills, have the initiative to at some point in time implement own processes
