Overview:

Our Client is seeking a Part-Qualified Accountant to join our team.

This role will report to the Manager of the UK and HQ Accounting, this candidate will be responsible for providing financial accountant services to the European Business and meeting UK Statutory reporting requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare statutory accounts for my clients UK entities, including the creation of supporting schedules and documentation to fulfill external audit requirements. Directly engage with company auditors, KPMG, and facilitate responses to audit testing.
  • Implement UK GAAP adjustments in SAP for unconsolidated companies.
  • Participate in year-end SOX control audits, generating supporting schedules and analyses while addressing queries from KPMG.
  • Coordinate responses and document requests from the broader European business.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate submission of internal monthly corporate reports to the US headquarters. This includes reports on Legal reserve, Environmental reserve, and JV analysis.
  • Conduct month-end close activities, encompassing accruals, amortizations, loyalty scheme accounting, intercompany settlements, intercompany and fuel voucher invoicing, office rentals, currency revaluations, joint venture accounting, and other ad hoc journals.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, ensuring completion by month-end and meeting required standards.
  • Follow up on and clear open items promptly.
  • Critically review accounting entries in SAP and analyze monthly variances in overall account balances to uphold the integrity of data. Review lease accounting entries monthly.
  • Conduct ad hoc statutory and analytical work to support the Manager of UK & HQ Accounting.

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

 

  • Hold a degree.
  • Currently studying for a financial accounting qualification such as ACCA or equivalent.
  • Experience in financial accounting and statutory reporting under FRS102.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with effective interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks concurrently, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Intermediate user of Excel and SAP. Experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource Accounts Production software is preferred but not essential.
  • Demonstrate integrity, a strong work ethic, and a sense of urgency in task execution.
  • Constantly seek simpler and more efficient approaches, leveraging technology to enhance reporting and controls.
