The needs of customers are different in each market sector, so they have created dedicated market sector teams, such as Automotive, Industry Strip, Energy & Power, Lifting and Excavating and Packaging. This enables us to understand and support the customer through one team, and deepen knowledge of the market, and of the current and future challenges of the business.

The automotive sector accounts for roughly 16% of all European steel consumption, and for a rapidly growing proportion of steel demand in India and other developing countries. Steel makes up more than half the weight of a car and is used not only for the body and chassis but also the powertrain and gearbox.

Our client provides numerous steel products to all the major vehicle manufacturers and component suppliers. Sector specialists with in-depth understanding of the global automotive industry work closely with customers from the initial design stage of a new vehicle. An vacancy has emerged for an experienced Account Manager to join the Automotive team and to support ambitious growth targets over the next few years. As Account Manager your key tasks will include a focus on development and growth with existing customers in the UK plus development in new regions in Europe and the rest of the world. You will identify and progress these opportunities, focusing on differentiated products.

Given the markets we wish to be active in, as a minimum the applicant should be fluent in English, Turkish and German.

Knowledge of Automotive steels are essential as would a working knowledge of dealing with tier suppliers within the Automotive sector. Educated to degree level in a business related discipline (such as Economics), you should have a proven sales background and excellent process and finance skills (CPA trained) to support decision making aligned to the needs of the asset.

– Specialist steels knowledge.

– Working knowledge of a steel manufacturer essential

– Excellent IT skills

– Experience of Automotive supply chains involving multiple products.

– Experience of tier 1 suppliers

– Proven sales and development

– English, Turkish, German language skills

– Degree level education (BA Economics ideally to support business development)

– Logistics and process experience from a commercial perspective

– Finance experience (CPA level) to support decision making and cost analysis.

– Full understanding of P&L accounts will be advantageous.
