Summary

This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented Accessories Designer to join one of UK’s largest fashion department stores. Reporting to the Head of Design, the role is to support the development of own label products ensuring relevant trends are applied & adding design expertise to ensure the Category strategy is achieved.

One of UK’s largest fashion department stores who is looking for an Accessories Designer to be based in London.

Description

Key responsibilities include:

* Create seasonal trend boards/ themes that are brand relevant

* Identify phased colour palettes that are trend & brand relevant

* Develop & identify new fabric bases with key suppliers that are on brand & within price architecture

* Visit trade shows & undertake sourcing trips with wider team

* Review competitor activity & feedback to wider team, react to this information to drive the brand forward

* Create on brand unique design packs from sketch stage to ready to brief spec packs

* Ensure the product range meets agreed quality standards & brand values

* Ensure all work is delivered in line with the critical path

* Create clear & concise range boards at sign off stage to Directors

* Participate in regular team meetings actively sharing trend information & competitor activity

* Ensure effective communication at all levels both internally and externally

* Excellent presentation skills

* Management of freelance designers and junior team members when required

Profile

The successful candidate for Accessories Designer will have the following attributes/abilities:

* Experience working on handbags, soft accessories?)

* Be able to demonstrate that they have had responsibility for developing their own collections or product categories

* Excellent organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines

* Experience working with suppliers & knowledge of supply base strengths & weaknesses

* Demonstrate ability to range plan with buyer & merchandiser

* Relevant technical knowledge, understanding of pattern cutting & construction

* Fully CAD literate within Photoshop & or Illustrator
