Are you proactive, organised and caring with a passion for special needs? Snap has an exciting new opportunity to join a fantastic family. Peter nearly 11 years old and Rachel, 7 years old are looking for a fun, energetic and active Nanny / Manny to provide a nurturing environment where they can both grow, learn and reach their full potential.
Peter has a genetic disorder causing general development delay, he has learning difficulties and limited mobility. Peter is very affectionate and has a cheeky smile, he loves a cuddle! He enjoys musical and sensory activities. His younger sister Rachel is bright, bubbly and chatty, a lover of creative activities such as arts and crafts, baking and of course socialising with friends!
Peter is dependent on others to provide all his care needs, he can walk for short distances with support. Currently he is on a strict ketogenic diet which controls his epilepsy very well. Peter is non-verbal but is able to make his mood known very well. Rachel loves her big brother, she is self-sufficient, but it is important the nanny / manny creates activities that will stimulate and motivate her too. In the afternoon, assistance with homework will be required, as well as taking the children to activities or arranging play dates and great days out. While the children are at school general nursery duties will keep you busy: ironing, light housework, cooking etc.
Peter will be having a hip operation in January, his recovery time can be up to 12 weeks and potentially longer. This will essentially mean that Peter is out of action with movement for that period of time, so you will be confident with manual handling and be able to think of creative ways to keep him entertained. There will be a rehabilitation programme in place which will need to be followed daily and the family will be recruiting an additional person to assist in the afternoons, more information available during interview.
This is a wonderfully diverse role and a lovely opportunity for a great SEN Nanny / Manny to provide hands on support for this family to ensure the smooth running of daily life. If you wish to find out more about this role please speak with Jade who is working with this fantastic family well known to Snap.
