A successful IT managed services company based in North London is seeking a commercial 2nd line Technical Team Leader. A go-to person with expert knowledge in their field who is able to problem solve, initiate and think outside the box with the understanding of the software and hardware that they handle for their clients.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE BASE:

Operating Systems:
Windows Server 2012, 2008, 2003, 2000 and SBS. Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000 and all server and windows desktop OS.
Virtualization with VMware / Hyper V.
Knowledge of Apple MAC OS, LINUX OS and Hardware would be an added bonus.

Mail Systems:
Microsoft Exchange 2012, 2010, 2007, 2003 and 2000 Server for Windows.
Office 365
Hosted Exchange Platforms

Administration:
Active Directory knowledge including trust relationships, structured delegation, GPO management with software publishing, VBS and BAT scripting, DFS and Resource Manager.

Networking:
Understanding of WINS, DHCP, IIS, WSUS, FTP, OWA, RPC/HTTPS, DNS
TCP/IP Protocol suite, UDP. Bandwidth management, QOS,VLAN’s, NAT.
VPN – Site to Site -IPSEC, PPTP, RAS.
Configuration of WatchGuard, Draytek and Sonicwall.
ADSL, SDSL, EFM, FTTC and Lease line configuration and management.
Understanding of Wireless networks

Experience with cloud migrations, hosted servers and virtual servers.

Knowledge of data backup solutions is key to this role, most importantly – Microsoft Azure.

Other Software: Symantec Backup Exec, BES, Anti Virus (Symantec, ESET & Sophos – personal and corporate edition), GFI FaxMaker for Exchange, Microsoft Office applications, , Administrator and manage Microsoft SQL Server 2005 & 2008 and IIS

Hardware:
Install & configure IBM, Dell & HP servers. Assemble, configure & diagnose variety of PCs and laptops include Dell & HP. Install internal and external peripherals for PCs. Install PC based video conferencing hardware. Install & maintain printers. Basic knowledge in Apple
Mobile Devices: Microsoft Windows based mobile, Android mobile, Blackberry and iPhone.

This is an exciting and challenging role for someone who is not only knowledgeable and skilled, but also a good communicator, presentable, able to work in a team and to work under pressure / to a deadline. The right candidate must be able to make the people they work with and the clients they deal with feel at ease, be confident in their own abilities and go the extra mile.

The ability to teach and share knowledge with more junior technicians is important so that they can be a strong support to this position as the business expands.

Other Key Accountabilities

  • Escalation support contact for internal IT Support team members
  • This role will also include deputising for the Service Desk Manager at times
  • Execute Data Change Requests and System Change Requests for production systems
  • Create & maintain documentation for all support functions.
  • Ability to prioritize work, mulit-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to provide and oversee all types of training and mentoring
