Up to £43/hr – Inside IR35

Peterborough/Remote – Hybrid

12 month initial contract

With a growing focus for Electric Vehicles (EV) applications our client is developing its own Lithium-Ion battery systems that will be used in almost all power ranges. The Advanced Power Products Battery Simulation Team is responsible for 1D/3D simulation modelling of lithium-ion cells and batteries.

The Battery Simulation Team own the 1D/3D lithium-ion cell and battery simulation models. This includes defining requirements, creating the models, defining tests for calibration/validation and using the models for performance analysis. This team applies technical knowledge to deliver the models required by the business.

As a Battery Simulation Engineer, you will have responsibility for creating 1D simulation models, calibration/validation of these models and applying them to real world analysis scenarios. This will also include creating models for HIL bench applications and completing co-simulation activities with the BMS software.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Creating 1D simulation models for batteries including auxiliary electrical equipment in Matlab/Simulink
• Calibration and validation of these models to test data and other sources of available data
• Write requirements, procedures, reports and formally present results
• Collaborate with the global battery team

Required qualification/skills:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) within a field of Engineering or Computer Science
• Experience with Matlab/Simulink (or similar)
• Experience with mechanical/electrical/thermal 1D modelling techniques and methods
• Excellent interpersonal skills (written/verbal/presentation communication, teamwork)
• Excellent problem solver who is self-motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision

Desirable experience/skills:

• Experience with Lithium-Ion battery systems and control
• Experience with HIL bench 1D modelling
• 2-year’s experience in a related field
