1:1 Teaching Assistant – Autism and MLD

Your new company
Hays Education are supporting a local primary school in East Birmingham in recruiting a Teaching Assistant on a long-term temporary basis. The placement will run until Easter in the first instance, with the potential of extending to the end of the academic year. This is a setting for children aged 5-16, all with a diagnosis of Autism or Moderate/Severe Learning Difficulties. As the school has seen an increased intake and is expecting this to rise again in September by another 50 pupils, any candidate that showcases excellent standards of teaching will be considered for permanent roles that become available. The school is run by an inclusive and welcoming team of staff, overseen by a dedicated leadership team with a strong focus on emotional development. They are aiming to recruit someone to fit into their hardy and dedicated team who work extremely hard to support the pupils and each other.

Your new role
You will be working alongside the Class Teacher and be responsible for supporting the delivery of teaching and learning in lessons, assisting with resourcing and assessment of work. You will be supported by class-based teaching assistants and other experienced teachers and work closely with the leadership of the school in delivering the best possible outcomes for the pupils.

What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful for this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you must have experience working with children with Autism or Moderate Learning Difficulties within an educational setting. Any other specific training needed will be provided by the school.
