1:1 OUTREACH LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT (LSA) – IPSWICH, SUFFOLK

Our client is looking for an outreach worker who has excellent behaviour management to teach cross curricular to a Key Stage 4 (KS4) student on a 1:1 basis. This is for an immediate start and will continue as on ongoing contract in Ipswich into the Spring term. For this role you will need to be a car driver and have the use of a car.

SALARY – Salary: £26,000

Contracts. £26,000 per year for long term supply

OUR CLIENT -SEMH/ASC Independent School – Ipswich, Suffolk

Has multiple SEMH (BESD) special schools (SEND) sites across Suffolk and Essex and is a SEMH special school (SEND) who also offer 1:1 tuition for students who are not in education for various reasons, you will be working with young people who are facing difficulties in accessing education. The school works in partnership with a wide range of agencies to provide high quality provision for children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health and Autistic Spectrum Condition in and across the home counties. The school had an OFSTED inspection this spring and achieved outstanding.

They offer a wide range of programmes including alternative provision and vocational qualifications for Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4 (KS3 or KS4). 1:1 outreach tuition for permanently excluded students, those at the point of exclusion and students who find a classroom setting difficult to manage.

THE ROLE – 1:1 LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT

You will be working one to one (1:1) with a Key Stage 4 (KS4) student who displays very challenging behaviour. You will be expected to give appropriate support to the student and be able to see past the barriers to learning. You will be expected to give appropriate feedback and maintain records of the pupils’ progress and development. The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will be required to prepare the student for qualifications and external examinations.

SEND 1:1 LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT

You must be an experienced support worker, who has had experience working with Key Stage 4 (KS4) pupils who have severe Social, Emotional or Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You must be able to remain calm when the need arises, be extremely resilient and have excellent negotiation skills.

You will need to have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships quickly with students and their families and previous experience of working with this client base is essential. You will have the ability to motivate and inspire reluctant and struggling students coupled with the ability to differentiate work and use students interest’s to build innovative and creative lesson.
