Your new role
As a 1-2-1 teaching assistant staff member, you will be assigned to a new pupil that is attending the school straight after Easter. Your role will require commitment throughout the agreement to aid the child’s progression, dedicated solely to the academic progress for the child. Although the child is in Year 1, you will be required to follow the Early Years curriculum as he has language delay and little social interaction. Overall, the child is a happy child but sensitive, he requires additional support to evolve and catch up with the national curriculum. You will have support available from other teachers and the leadership team throughout your placement.
As a 1-2-1 Support teacher, your responsibilities will include:
Working solely with this child
Tailoring work based on the individual needs of the student
Working collaboratively with the class teachers to promote consistent development
Support core subject development
Manage behaviour when working individually
What you’ll need to succeed
As this position is due to starts as soon as the school opens after Easter, it is essential that you are available full-time throughout the placement.
For this role you will need to complete our compliance process; a positive and prompt approach to this is essential to ensure processed in time for the proposed start date. You will need:
Access to right to work document, identification, proof of address
Enhanced child DBS, preferably on the Update Service
Level 2 LSA
Prompt references covering the last 2 years minimum
Access to certificates and QTS reference number
The school have stated that for a teaching assistant to thrive in this role, they will need a good patient and nurturing approach, being proactive and be a strong Learning Support Assistant, but also excellent re-engagement techniques. A positive and dedicated approach to teaching is vital for this role; role-modelling behaviour for the child.
You will be working alongside a very experienced teaching team. Meaning there are a variety of support options throughout the position; for both behaviour management and progression targeting or monitoring.
