Salary: £66,000 – £78,000 per year
DevOps Engineer – Hybrid / Cheshire – AWS, Continuous Integration, Terraform
My client is recruiting for a DevOps Engineer to support our growing, complex application estate. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting the deployment, configuration, scaling and monitoring of the application portfolio
The role will report to the Head of Development and canbe based at the office in Cheshire and hybrid remotely.
Typical Work Activities
* Build & Deployment automation
* Infrastructure scaling
* Application configuration
* Migrating applications to HA configurations
* Database deployment
* Load testing and capacity planning
* Application monitoring
* Incident investigation

Essential Skills/Experience
* Minimum of 2 years of commercial DevOps Engineer experience
* A strong working knowledge of AWS, and/or current certification on AWS cloud such as
* AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
* AWS Certified Solutions Architect
* AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
* A background in automating application deployment and configuration management
* In-depth experience of CI tools – such as Gitlab/Bamboo etc
* Experience with Terraform and/or AWS CDK
* Knowledge of GIT
* In-depth experience maintaining database servers – including Aurora, Cassandra, Elasticache (Redis), Postgres, Redshift etc.
* Knowledge of Java ecosystem – how applications are deployed, and configuration of servlet containers
* Strong Linux Sysadmin skills
* Familiarity with Python application deployment – WSGI, PIP, VirtualEnv
* Scripting Skills – Bash, Python
* Good knowledge of Docker / Kubernetes / Openshift etc
* Good knowledge of internet communication concepts and protocols – TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP
* An awareness of security considerations in web application deployment
* Monitoring / Logging e.g. ELK, Datadog, Prometheus / Grafana etc
The client is looking to pay £66,000 – £78,000 and a great benefits package including training, life assurance, pension, and other great benefits. The client is based in Cheshire and is looking for Manchester, Shropshire, Chester and Staffordshire.
